Shrill is a Drake, distant cousins to Dragons. They are born from eggs and eventually, after many years, will sprout wings and grow to about the size of a large horse. Randall has raised Shrill from the egg and the young Drake is one of his best friends, and brothers in arms, often joining Randall in the field for work. Shrill is highly intelligent, erudite in his speech, and capable of emitting an ear-splitting howl that can shatter glass.
